GRA E-VAT evidence and planning notes
GRA E-VAT is the Ghana Revenue Authority's electronic VAT receipt system. GRA currently describes two routes for VAT-registered businesses: a free all-round invoicing system and an integration route for an existing invoicing system. A merchant should confirm its applicable route with GRA before configuring or purchasing a POS integration.
Effective tax structure
20%
GRA states that the effective rate comprises 15% VAT, 2.5% NHIL and 2.5% GETFund under reforms effective from 1 January 2026.
Official system routes
2 options
Businesses can discuss the GRA-provided system or an integration with an existing invoicing workflow.
Official offline guidance
Up to 24 hours
The GRA overview says its E-VAT system can generate electronic receipts offline for up to 24 hours. This statement does not define EazSell integration behaviour.
| Area | Evidence to prepare | Who confirms it |
|---|---|---|
| Taxpayer route | Registration, TSC guidance and selected installation route | Merchant and GRA |
| Invoice data | Tax classes, receipt identifiers, timestamps, signatures and QR-code requirements | GRA and implementation partner |
| System integration | POS or ERP mapping, connectivity, error handling and test evidence | Implementation team and GRA |
| Store operations | Cashier workflow, supported offline handling, reconciliation and support ownership | Merchant and implementation partner |
GRA E-VAT is the Ghana Revenue Authority's electronic system for issuing VAT receipts. GRA describes it as an invoicing improvement for VAT-registered businesses rather than a separate tax.
GRA describes both a free all-round invoicing system and a version that can integrate with an existing invoicing system. The suitable route, testing and installation must be confirmed with GRA for the taxpayer and deployment concerned.
No certification or approval claim is made for EazSell at this time. A Ghana deployment must complete the applicable GRA integration, testing, certification and taxpayer onboarding steps with qualified local support.
